2020 Stanley School District Annual Election

Absentee ballots need to be postmarked by June 8, 2020 or put in the drop box by 5:00 p.m. June 8, 2020 in order to be counted.

NOTICE OF ANNUAL SCHOOL ELECTION

STANLEY COMMUNITY PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 2

Notice is hereby given that on Tuesday, the 9th day of June 2020, annual election will be held for the purpose of electing members of school boards.

On April 2, 2020, Governor Doug Burgum issued Executive Order 2020-19, waiving the statutory requirement to designate one polling location for school board elections to permit school boards to conduct their 2020 annual election via absentee ballot only. By Executive Order 2020-19.1, the Governor waived similar requirements for school district special elections held during the duration of the state of emergency. Executive Order 2020-19 suspended the following requirements:

*The requirement under NDCC 15.1-09-13 for school boards to designate one or more precincts.

*The requirement under NDCC 15.1-09-13 for school board to designate one or more polling places for each precinct.

*The requirement under NDCC 15.1-09-12 for school boards to establish hours of operation for polling locations on the date of election.

At the regular school board meeting held on April 15, 2020, the Stanley Community Public School Board passed a motion to hold their annual school board election via absentee ballot-only as permitted by Executive 2020-19.

Applications forms and absent voters’ ballots for the annual school election June 9th 2020 are available from Barb Reese, Business Manager of the Stanley Community Public School District No. 2.

Applications can be received by:

1.You can download the application on the Stanley Community School’s website https://www.stanley.k12.nd.us/ (click on the word applications or application to download a PDF)

2.You can call the district office at 701-628-3811 to get your application; or

3.You can email Barbara.Reese@k12.nd.us to get your application sent to you by mail or email; or

4.You can go to the Secretary of State North Dakota website (https://vip.sos.nd.gov/absentee/Default.aspx) to get your application for absentee ballot.

Be sure to mark school election on the application.

Once you fill out your application you can:

Mail it back to the school district:

You can use the drop box at the Mountrail County Courthouse at 101 N Main St., Stanley ND . The drop box will be located on the east side of the Mountrail Courthouse; or

You can scan and email the application form to Barbara.Reese@k12.nd.us; or

You can fax your application to 701-628-3358.

Application forms must be completed, signed and returned before the ballots can be obtained.

Once the application has been received, the district office will mail you the ballot along with a secrecy envelope and a return envelope. Make sure to fold your ballot and seal it in the secrecy envelope. Put the secrecy envelope inside the return envelope and seal. On the back of the return envelope is the voter’s affidavit. This must be filled out before mailing or using the drop box.

Please make sure you have given enough time to receive your ballot and return by mail or drop box located on the east side of the Mountrail County Courthouse at 101 N Main St, Stanley ND.
