Parents and community members, please mark your calendars for an evacuation drill on April 18th.  On that day, Stanley Public Schools will be holding an ACTIVE THREAT DRILL at the high school building.  During this drill, a mock active threat will start at 12:30pm.

Stanley Public Schools holds four objectives for this exercise:

  • Teachers will make the appropriate response given the location of the mock threat in the hallways to either evacuate or barricade.
  • Part of the student population will evacuate the building and practice reunifying at the given location.
  • Teachers will utilize the Raptor software to account for the status and location of their students.
  • The Raptor software will be used to assist in the reunification of a selected group of students.

The Stanley Police Department and Mountrail County Sheriff’s Department will be the responding agencies to this drill.  They will assist in the clearing of the classrooms during the drill.  Additionally, the Stanley Fire Department will assist in controlling traffic in order to ensure the safety of our students as they make their way to the reunification site.  The North Dakota Highway Patrol will be assisting as the role of observer to provide feedback to the school on areas of improvement.

Stanley High School students have been trained in the school’s response system to active threats.  Students have also been informed of the upcoming drill.  Stanley Public Schools will take multiple steps to inform parents, students, and community members of the upcoming drill in an effort to ensure that no one is taken by surprise.  Students in the elementary school will be largely unaffected by this drill.

Please watch the school website for additional information as the date draws closer.  Mailings will also be sent home.
