Dear Blue Jay Families,

Welcome back to a school year filled with excitement and new opportunities! Although this is my first year as high school principal, this is my eighteenth year as an employee of the district.  I care deeply for this community, school system, and for the individuals who walk through the door every day.  I believe a positive educational experience takes a team approach.  As high school principal, I am committed to working with you, your child, and teachers to help Stanley students achieve to their fullest potential.

Open communication is critical to student success.  If you have a question or concern, I ask that you reach out to your child’s teacher to discuss how to best address the issue at hand.  Our teachers are willing to work along side parents and students to make the school year successful.  Additionally, please reach out to me if you have any concerns.  Again, communication is critical to addressing situations. Please know that our school website has an anonymous bullying form that can be used to share any possible bullying incidents or any other concern.  We investigate every report that is filed.

In the junior high and high school, we moved to a semester grading schedule for the 2019-2020 school year.  This means that report cards will be issued twice a year.  However, we will continue to send progress reports at quarter intervals.  Semester grading aligns us with our dual credit classes, online classes, and ITV classes.  It also better aligns with the credit system, as Stanley Schools does not issue quarter credits.  At any time, you will be able to access your child’s grades via Powerschool.  You can access this system as frequently as you like, any time of the day.  Our Stanley School website and app are helpful sources of information as well.

Joining our dedicated faculty this year are Ms. Bailey Hawbaker (vo-ag) and Mrs. Jen Manson (junior high social studies/in-house substitute teacher.) Mrs. Kelsey Nichols will now teach world history, economics, and some junior high classes. Mr. Tom Simmers will teach junior high reading and junior high social studies.  Mr. Brooks Stafslien is our assistant principal K-12 and athletic director.  Mr. Stafslien will split his time between the elementary and high school buildings.

The first day of school is Wednesday, August 21.  The school day begins at 8:30am.  Registration for returning students was completed last spring.  Times set aside to pick up schedules, pay fees, and sign forms are as follows:

Tuesday, August 13                 Students in grades 9 and 10                 8:30am - 3:30pm

Please watch our school website for upcoming events and communication on various activities.  I have requested that teachers utilize the website as their main portal for sending information.

Once again, I look forward to a great school year.  I encourage you to contact me with any concerns so we can ensure a successful school year.

Sincerely,

Alecia Pulver

Stanley High School Principal
