ERIN ESSLER

WELCOME TO MY CLASSROOM!!!

#EsslerScience

My name is Erin Essler. I graduated from Capital High School (Helena, MT) in 2003. I then attended University of Jamestown (Jamestown, ND), formerly Jamestown College, graduating in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. While at University of Jamestown, I continued my running career and ran for the Cross Country, Indoor and Outdoor Track teams every year. I went back to school in 2013 to pursue a Secondary Education – Science degree at Minot State University (Minot, ND).

My past work experience includes working for the United States Geological Survey (USGS) and the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) in North Dakota, South Dakota, and Montana. I was a part of the Least Tern and Piping Plover Restoration on the Missouri River project run by the Northern Prairie Wildlife Refuge (USGS) for three years.

I am excited to start my SIXTH year as the Stanley High School Biology, Advanced Biology, Human Anatomy & Physiology, Ornithology (birds)/Entomology (bugs), and 7th grade Life Science teacher!!

I am married to my best friend, Zach Essler. We have a beautiful little girl, Elliott; and a cute little guy, McCoy!! We also have furbabies; 3 dogs (Tana, Koda, and Wentz) and 2 cats (Jane and Barry).

TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

My hope for my students is that they will leave my class inspired and questioning their world. We will explore the world through scientific inquiry. We will build on their inquisitive nature; exploring, observing, collecting, analyzing, and concluding on evidence gathered. I will make science relevant to their life, that learning and critical thinking matters. We will also look to the past; how scientific discovery happens through hard work or pure luck. My hope is to nurture an open-minded, learning nature.
