Stanley FFA members attended the Winter Leadership Conference in Bismarck this weekend. They started the weekend by delivering Chemo Care Kits to cancer patients at Mid Dakota Clinic, then using teamwork to try to escape at Trapped in Bismarck escape rooms. On Saturday the conference began and students were able to enhance their leadership abilities by attending sessions and then had the opportunity to help their fellow FFA members package 200,000 meals for the Meals of Hope service project that delivers these meals to local residents within North Dakota.
The Ag 1, Ag 2 and Ag 4 students showed off their shop projects and had a contest where students and teachers could choose their favorites! The Ag 1 classes made corn hole boards and the Ag 2 and Ag 4 classes made a scrap wood holiday decor project. The students had a blast designing these and they all turned out great! Winning the Teacher Choice award was Caiti Hennessy with her “Have a Merry Christmas” tree and winning the Student Choice Award was Jacob Littlefield and Tucker Gorder with their “Just Do It” corn hole board.

The great people at Pepsi stopped by to drop off a little Christmas cheer for our students who helped pick up a crate of water that took a spill a couple of weeks ago. Previously, Safari Fuels and Stanley Pinnacle surprised the students with coupons for meals. Pepsi sent our students off to Christmas break with some duffle bags and Pepsi swag. In addition to all the fun surprises, our students made a great connection with our Pepsi delivery drivers and shared some laughs and smiles.

We were able to raise around $800 for our elementary school playground.
Congrats to the Nelsons on their first place finish. 2nd place went the Servivors, followed by Glo Getters in 3rd and Nutcrackers in 4th.

Elementary Math Tip: Give your child a ruler to measure objects around the house. Depending on their grade level, they could measure to the nearest inch or to the sixteenth of an inch. With your help, this hands-on practice teaches how to use a ruler as a measurement tool, how to read a ruler, incorporates math in their daily life, and provides a fun opportunity for your child to practice math!
Lions Tournament Update
Students celebrated reaching their Quarter 2 AR goals with a game party. They could choose from Kahoots trivia, Charades, Pictionary, Bingo, or a variety of board and card games.
Overflow parking for the Lion’s tournament is in the outfield of the baseball diamond.
Mr. Stafslien and Mrs. Dusek are ready to battle it out in the Christmas costume contest!
You may have noticed a number of patrol cars in our high school parking lot this week. The North Dakota Highway Patrol is using our multipurpose room for training. The NDHP appreciates using our centrally located facilities and we appreciate having a police presence in our building each day. Today, the forensics class was able to watch the training and learn about the control tactics the officers use on the job.
Mrs. Pulver learned handcuffing techniques. Mr. Peterson was a little more brave and learned what it was like to be in some of the police holds.
Stanley PE students have been learning the life-long sport of bowling. Special thanks to Jim Dazell for hosting all the students at the alley each week and for providing the delicious Christmas treats today!

There have been reported cases of lice at the Elementary School. Please do a head check and if your child does appear to have lice or nits - keep them home.
Mrs. Stafslien’s class was sponsored earlier this year by community members for $1 scholastic books. They received so many donations that they had an overflow of money! The class discussed and voted on giving a book to each preschooler in town! They read them a book and did art project! The students had so much fun and can’t wait to go to another preschool later on this week! Such a great group of kids!!
SANTA!!!!! We had a visit from Santa yesterday. He passed out candy canes to all our good little girls and boys.
Between 2:30-3:00 we will be conducting our Shelter In Place DRILL.
