Happy Friday Everyone!
If your child's lunch account balance is less than $10 today or Monday your child will be bringing home a notice. You can send payment (cash or check) with your child or you can visit our school website to pay online. I try my best to pull out kiddos that I know bring cold lunch but if I happen to miss some please disregard the notice.
Also, if you haven't already done so please check out the newsletter I sent out last Friday. https://5il.co/9th2
Have a fantastic weekend!

Friday Funday! Students work in small groups with a parachute and letter dice to build words.

Elementary Math Tip: Before your child can do written Math, they must learn number recognition. Point out numbers in the world around you and say them to your child for them to repeat - it might be numbers on a toy block or a puzzle piece. As they get older and better at recognizing numbers, try reading house numbers or box numbers when at the post office. Make it into a game, seeing who can find the greatest number or the least. Also, before your child starts Kindergarten, they are old enough to memorize mom/dad's phone number. For safety reasons, it's important for your child to simply know this information.
Mr.Cuypers STEM Science class are coding their LEGO Mindstorm Robots to complete a Figure 8 pattern. Here are some students running their trials.

Essler's Ornithology visited the Stanley pond for our weekly Bird Walk. Students spent the first week learning how to be a Better Birder! They are applying their knowledge of size/shape, color patterns, behavior, and habitat in order to ID birds! They're picking up on songs as well, they ID'd a few Killdeer today based on song. We observed Killdeer, Mourning doves, Double-crested Cormorants, and Red-winged Blackbirds. #esslerscience #ornithology #lovebirds
