Today, the 5th graders at Stanley Elementary had a blast learning all about wheat and the bread-making process! A huge thank you to NDSU Williams County Extension for bringing this hands-on experience to our students. Each kiddo got to mix, knead, and shape their very own loaf of honey wheat bread—and they were so excited to take it home to bake and share with their families! What a fun and delicious way to learn about agriculture and where our food comes from! 🍞🌾

Mrs. Verano’s Science class is exploring the weather and atmosphere. To bring the lesson to life, students participated in a forecasting drama where they dressed up as news anchors and delivered weather reports. They covered topics such as the layers of the atmosphere, how air forms, and the science behind blizzards, hurricanes, and tornadoes. This activity helped students engage with meteorological concepts in a fun and interactive way!

April is reading month at Stanley Elementary School. This year's reading month has a circus theme. In physical education, we worked on plate spinning for the kick off assembly in the gym. Some of the kids got really good at plate spinning.

At a approximately 10:20am, a fire alarm was inadvertently pulled at Stanley Elementary. Due to the fact that it was not a scheduled drill, the building was evacuated and 911 was immediately called. After further investigation we were able to confirm it was a false alarm, so students were cleared to again enter the building. Thank you Stanley PD and Stanley Fire Department for the quick response.

Each year, the Stanley Speech team participates in at least one meet outside their normal schedule. These meets are usually Class A meets and bring fierce competition. These meets offer a new experience from the pieces we see to the competition to the judge feedback received. It is a great experience and a day always filled with laughs and encouragement. Congratulations to each and every participant and a special shout out to our Speechies who placed. Great job everyone.

2025 court is adjourned! Stanley competed for the first time at the High School Mock Trial Competition in Bismarck. The competition was hosted by the State Bar Association of North Dakota at the Burleigh County Courthouse. These seniors put in the work; no objections there! Over the course of 3 months, the Stanley Mock Trial Team analyzed a 2nd degree murder case and put on a stellar performance in the courtroom against other teams. From expert testimony, offering evidence, objections, and opening/closing arguments, these seniors should be proud of what they accomplished and how they represented the Blue Jays. The state was represented by Caleb Mortensen, Harley DeTienne, Avery Ellis, Aubrey Jordan, Ella Mortensen, and Max Jackson. For the defense, Logan Neset, Max Jackson, Avery Ellis, Jonathan Chavez, Tawni Nohr, and Harley DeTienne. Scoring judges selected Ella Mortensen as the top witness and Avery Ellis as the top attorney for the Stanley team. Over the course of competition prep, the team was blessed to have the assistance from numerous individuals who volunteered time in providing feedback and insight . Recognition to Wade Enget, Amber Fiesel, and Madison Rogers of the Mountrail County Courthouse who helped with a practice trial. The team was also fortunate enough to work alongside attorney coaches from Pringle & Herigstad, P.C. in Minot. Debra Hoffarth, Ryan Sandberg, and Ashleigh Ensrud volunteered their time to help the team with evidence and testimony.
