Sixth graders used their knowledge of greatest common factor to play Capture the Flag today. For each correct answer, teams got to capture another team's flag. Each color flag was worth a different number of points, and students didn't know until the end of the game how much each color was worth. We ended up with a tie for first place and a lot of cheering each other on! 🥇🥈🥉

Classes are busy this week growing in their problem-solving and friendship skills as well as conflict resolution and respect! 3rd and 4th grade practiced respect and problem-solving in small groups and with partners to disagree respectfully and see the good in others. 2nd grade focused on using I-statements to resolve conflicts, 1st grade made "wrinkled hearts" to show how our words and actions affect others, and Kindergarten made some awesome kindness cards!

🔍📚Mrs. Drosdal's 4th graders were on the hunt for EVIDENCE today! 👀 Students used magnifying glasses to search for text evidence in the novel "Shiloh" to support their line of thinking. They then added it to their Evidence Collection Box. 📦

STEM engineers have been learning about simple machines and how they make our work easier! We've done several labs exploring simple and compound machines! Enjoy their pics! Ornithologists (bird biology) have been learning how to be better birders, learning local birds, and spent the last few days exploring how biologists might estimate population sizes! Biologists have been exploring group behavior, genetics, and beginning energy flow in ecosystems using African organisms as a theme! Everything they have been exposed to is real data taken by real scientists helping change the world, it's pretty cool! Human A&P had worked through bioethics, the language of anatomy, and human body orientation. #esslerscience
