It is National School Counseling Week. Our schools are incredibly lucky to have two amazing counselors, Syria and Mrs. Sorenson. They are always kind, supportive, and ready to help every student feel heard and cared for — making our school a better place every day.

The Stanley Speech Team is back in action! We attended the Minot North Invitational today and came home with a few medals and a renewed excitement for the upcoming season. We had veteran members in new categories today, as well as fresh faces on the Speech team diving right in. Congratulations to all who participated and good luck this season!

Call time for students is 6:15 in the music room. Concert dress is black pants, black shoes, and a colorful shirt. If a student does not have a colorful shirt they may wear all black. Ladies can wear a colorful dress if they would like.

Mrs. Verano’s 8th graders had an incredible opportunity to meet STEM Ambassadors from NASA, led by Laurie Salander, and take part in a hands-on engineering simulation. Students were challenged with a real-world problem: lunar solar panels covered in moon dust that needed to be cleaned. Working in teams, they designed and built a small rover using a toothbrush head, a motor, and a battery to clear the panels.
After testing their designs, students problem-solved by making adjustments, adding materials to improve balance, increase weight, and ensure the panels were cleaned thoroughly. The excitement in the room was contagious as students collaborated, experimented, and refined their designs. The creativity, critical thinking, and teamwork on display made this experience truly STEMazing! 🚀

Bus 28 did not run this morning (Jan. 26th) due to unexpected circumstances. We do have a bus sub for this afternoon and it will run the regular route at the expected times.
Today, Mrs. Verano’s science class built DNA models using Twizzlers and gummy bears. Students have been learning that chromosomes are composed of DNA 🧬(Deoxyribonucleic acid). As part of the activity, they had the opportunity to create their own DNA models. While connecting the base pairs, some students accidentally mismatched them, which led to discussions about mutations. It was exciting to see the students actively engaged and enjoying the learning process.
You will see a number of North Dakota Highway Patrol vehicles in the high school parking lot today, please know that everything is okay. They are using one of our multipurpose rooms for a scheduled training. We are happy to partner with them and share our facilities when possible.
The GBB game vs Dunseith scheduled for tomorrow has been postponed to Feb 12th.
