📢 New Technology Policy – Grades 7–12 💻

Starting this school year, students may no longer bring personal laptops or computers to school.

Every student will be assigned a school-issued device to use during the day.
This change will help reduce distractions from messaging apps, games, and social media, and ensure that all students have the correct software and safeguards to stay on task.

✅ Important Notes:
• Students in college classes may use a personal device for that class only.
• All Stanley High School classes must be completed on a school-issued device.
• Devices will be distributed at the start of the year.
• Students are responsible for any damage to their assigned device.

Let’s start the year focused, prepared, and ready to succeed! 💙📚

📢 New State Law: 📱 Cell Phone & Smart Device Policy

A new North Dakota law requires all student cell phones to be turned off and stored during the school day. At Stanley High School, this means phones must be powered off and kept in lockers.

⌚ Smartwatches must be in airplane mode to avoid distractions.
🎧 Wireless earbuds are not allowed. Students may use wired headphones only. Junior high students will need USB-C headphones to work with their Chromebooks.

🚫 Violation Consequences:
• 1st Offense: Parent must pick up the phone.
• 2nd Offense: Parent pick-up + detention until 4:15 PM
• 3rd+ Offense: Parent pick-up + 2-day OSS

📌If a student continues to violate the policy and reaches 10 OSS days, expulsion procedures will be initiated.

Let’s work together to keep our school environment focused and distraction-free! Thank you for your support. 💙📚

📣 Schedule Update at Stanley High School
To better support student success, we've adjusted our high school schedule. Beginning this year, our intervention time—now called Flex Time—will take place mid-morning at 10:17 AM.
Our goals:
- Students earning D’s or F’s will work in small groups with teachers and an administrator for targeted support.
- Students earning C’s or higher will attend a structured study hall to complete work and reduce homework.
This is not optional. Students must report to their assigned room, prepared and ready to work. Bathroom breaks should be handled beforehand to keep this time focused and productive.
Reminder: Students are expected to remain at school until dismissal at 3:40 PM.

📅 Stanley School 2025-2026 Calendar Available!

We encourage all families to review the calendar as you plan vacations and appointments throughout the year. Minimizing time out of school helps support consistent learning and student success.

📌 Important Reminder for Grades 7-12 Families:
Semester finals are scheduled for the last days of each semester—right before Christmas break and again at the end of the school year. Please avoid scheduling trips during these times, as students are expected to take finals before leaving for break. (Students in grades 9-12 have semester exemptions based on their grades and attendance. If students have an A for the class, they are allowed 4 days of absences, B = 3 days, C = 2 days. Students earning a D/F must take finals. Students with 5+ absences must take finals.)

Thank you for partnering with us to support student learning!
