Friday 4th grade wrapped up our study of local government by taking a trip to the county courthouse. The kids met and sat in on District Judge Lee’s courtroom and asked him questions. We then toured the old and new courthouse with State Attorney Enget. Next the class toured the jail and sheriffs office. After a quick lunch we concluded our tours with the county auditor, recorder, and treasurer. It was quite a day!

Mrs. Sorensen and her high school students pumped up our elementary students at the red ribbon assemblies today! We learned powerful ways to say no to drugs and alcohol, and we had some fun, too!

Tenth grade students put on a college fair at lunch today! They called admission offices for handouts, researched the college and made a poster to present to the school. Great job!!!

The junior high health classes are becoming responsible consumers by understanding the sales techniques used in commercials. Today, they used those same techniques to create their own commercials and perform them for their class.

Congratulations to Logan Neset and the Stanley Stampede 4H group for organizing a successful hat day to raise money for the Stanley High School food pantry! Students could pay $1 to wear a hat with the proceeds used to fill the shelves of the food pantry at the high school.

Today Mr. Hellman’s Social Studies classes took a mini field trip to City Hall. We looked at where our local government meets and talked about their responsibilities. Students were asked questions from what we have learned and if they answered correctly they got to bang the gavel while yelling at Mr. Hellman!

We had several FFA members help out with the Mountrail County Farm Safety Day. The members were able to teach students how to be safe around farm animals and a few facts about cattle, pigs, horses, goats and poultry! It was a fantastic day for both the members and the students attending!
Miss Zahn’s class spent the morning going around and writing down something they like about each person in the class, then we made the Positivi-Tree! 🌳
5th grade had a blast at the Mountrail County Farm Safety Day Camp this week! We rotated through many different stations with presenters including the FFA chapter, volunteer fire department, Case IH, Mountrail Williams Electric Cooperative, and Gooseneck Implement. We also learned about preventing germs & pesticide safety. Thank you to those who put on the event, the kids had a blast!
