Let's here it for these Speechies! The Stanley Speech Team has been working so hard this season. Today we attended a very competitive meet with schools from across the state. We are so proud of the hard work that everyone is putting in! A special congratulations to our State Qualifiers!

Students in 3rd-6th grade are working on testing strategies and coping skills to use during our state assessments coming up at the end of March! They are learning and practicing brain breaks, strategies for challenging test questions and positive self-talk. Stanley Bluejays are going to rock this test!!

🏀 It’s basketball season and time to review math facts in Mrs. Stafslien’s class! Why not combine them for “MATHketball!” 🏀
Students worked on several key skills:
- teamwork
- collaboration
- computation of facts
- problem solving
- shooting form
- NOT hitting their teacher in the face 🥽😁

Mrs. Obert's class has been building machines to pour cereal! Science is amazing!!!

Today Mr. Hellman’s 4th graders learned how to use an ancient tool: encyclopedias! The class discussed life before the internet and how their old teacher used to do research projects. The class then had an opportunity to look through Mr. Hellman’s sets and find information on a variety of subjects. I think they are hooked on “the old way!”

Stanley Speech had another awesome weekend! We had a great meet at Velva High School. A special shoutout to Abigail Hudelson for her state qualifying first place win!!

What a great turnout we had for Donuts with Grownups! Thank you so much to everyone who came to school early to enjoy breakfast with our students. Thank you for the positive feedback from our community members. And special thanks to Cashwise, BNC, and Bravera for helping us provide this special day!

National FFA Week is upon us, yesterday Stanley FFA members taught the elementary students about different commodities within North Dakota and today members and SHS staff were treated to a BBQ sponsored by Mountrail County Farmers Union and Brandi Larson Agency - Farmers Union Insurance!

Your scientists have been doing lots of learning!
Biologists (10th) have been following a Homeostasis storyline and learning about balance from ecosystems to eventually cells. Pictured they're learning about ocean acidification and its affects on marine life.
Human A&P are currently learning about action potentials in neurons and neuron communication in order to understand disorders when things do go wrong.
Entomologist (study of insects) have been learning about the diversity of insects. We're now focusing on insect anatomy and exploring with our new mealworm friends!
7th grade science have been learning about how molecules can travel through our bodies, how homeostatic imbalances in one system leads to symptoms in other systems. They're learning about the importance of cellular respiration and energy. Pictured is us proving with an indicator for CO2 (bromothymol blue) that we really do exhale carbon dioxide!
One of my goals is that if you state a claim, then we have back it up with evidence! We collect data, we analyze, we argue (gosh! you should hear them argue! It's amazing 🤩), we conclude. This has been an awesome year, I love working with all these Blue Jay Scientists!

If you see the ND Highway Patrol vehicles at our high school, please do not be alarmed. They are using our multipurpose room for their own training.
I love it when our community comes together. Today, Student Council hosted a blood drive to kick off kindness week. Stanley PD, MC Deputies, elementary and high school teachers, school counselors, students and community leaders answered the call! We had over 35 donors show up for our cause! Thanks so much to all who attended, helped, and donated!

Reminder: To celebrate National FFA Week, Stanley FFA is hosting a hat week at both the elementary and high school with all funds being donated to Farm Rescue!

Happy National FFA Week!

Stanley Speech had a great meet at Nedrose High School today! Everyone did awesome! A special shoutout to Autumn Pulver for her state qualifying first place win!!
