Stanley School's November theme is "Bluejays show up with Grit, Gratitude, and Growth and Live Boldly, Love Big and Pass it on!" As a part of this theme, we will be working together on intentional acts of kindness for the entire month! One of our acts is to raise funds and donations for our SACK Program at the elementary and high school. Please see attached poster for details!

Students today are constantly bombarded with notifications coming to their cell phones. Message alerts disrupt attention and cause breaks in learning. Studies show even the presence of a cell phone in a student’s pocket reduces their ability to concentrate. In an effort to decrease student distractions and increase learning, Stanley Junior/Senior High School will move to a no cell phone policy, effective November 1st, 2021. With this in effect, we are looking to clear the cell phone distractions that clog the learning day. The rational for our decision can be found at https://www.awayfortheday.org/. This resource is filled with research studies that outline the impact of cell phone use in adolescents and teenagers. Students will keep their phones either in their vehicle or powered off in their locker during the school day (8:30 am – 3:41 pm). Students will not be responding to messages until after dismissal. If you need to contact your child during the day, the school office will be happy to get a message to your child. The number for Stanley High School main office is (701) 628-2342. Students are also allowed to use the office phone to make important calls during the day. If a student has their cell phone in class/on their person during the day, the consequences are: First offense- phone taken to the office, parent needs to pick it up. Second offense- phone taken to the office, parent picks it up. Student serves 30 minutes of detention. Third offense- phone is taken to the office, parent picks it up. Student serves detention and phone must be turned in to the office daily for the remainder of the semester. Thank you for your assistance in helping us improve our learning environment for our students. If you have any questions or would like to visit with administration, please contact Mrs. Pulver or Mrs. Brown directly at the school. We do not have the staffing to monitor our social media feed for questions.

4th grade has been learning about levels of government. To get a more hands on experience, the classes took a trip to City Hall last Thursday where they met Mayor Weisenberger and Councilman Taylor. The kids got to see where our local government meets and ask questions about the process. We may have a future councilperson or mayor in the group!
