For the last week Mr. Hellman’s social studies class has been learning about the 2020 election. They have looked at who the candidates are running for office in North Dakota as well as the ballot measures and even learned what the electoral college is. Today everything came to a close as the students were allowed to vote in their own classroom election. Students were given a sample ballot yesterday to take home and discuss with parents. After deciding who they wanted to vote for they cast their ballot during the election in fourth grade social studies class. The results of the election were: President: Jorgenson - 1 Biden - 2 Trump - 38 Congress: Peterson - 3 Armstrong - 33 Raknerud - 3 State Senate: Rust - 37 State House: Anderson - 30 Longmuir - 38 Governor: Lenz - 2 Burgum - 35 Hendrickson - 1 Coachman (write in) - 2 Superintendent of Public Instruction: Dick - 24 Baesler - 20 County Commissioner: Houge - 13 Olson - 27 Rice - 14 Heinle - 25 Ballot Measure #1 Yes - 12 No - 27 Ballot Measure #2 Yes - 21 No - 18
