Mrs. Verano’s 8th graders had the exciting opportunity to meet Mrs. Erin Essler, the high school Biology teacher. She shared her expertise and introduced the class to Evolution and Natural Selection, providing evidence to support scientific theories. To make learning even more engaging, she used gummy bears to demonstrate natural selection in action. The students had fun observing how some gummy bears were ‘eaten’ while a few remained, helping them understand survival and adaptation in a hands-on way.

Today, Mrs. Verano’s 7th-grade class explored ecological niches and how abiotic and biotic factors contribute to an organism’s survival in an ecosystem. As part of the lesson, students created dioramas of specific ecosystems using homemade playdough to craft 3D models of organisms and environmental factors. Through this activity, they were able to identify adaptations and understand the roles organisms play in their environments.

Reminder: Junior class parent meeting, February 4 at 6pm in the high school cafeteria.
🌟 It’s National School Counseling Week! 🌟
As school counselors, we’re excited to celebrate this special week, which is all about recognizing the important role we play in supporting students and helping them grow. 🙌
National School Counseling Week highlights the dedication and hard work that school counselors put in to create safe, supportive, and inclusive environments where students can thrive. From providing guidance on academic planning to supporting mental health and emotional well-being, we’re here to help students succeed—no matter what challenges they may face.
Our work goes beyond the classroom. We help students with: ✔️ Academic support and goal setting ✔️ Conflict resolution and peer mediation ✔️ Mental health resources and coping strategies ✔️ College and career readiness
This week, we want to take a moment to thank all of our students, families, and staff for their continued support, and to remind everyone that we are here to listen, guide, and encourage. 💙
Join us in our dress up days and stay tuned for more updates from us this week!
Thank you for letting us be a part of your educational journey! 🌱 #NationalSchoolCounselingWeek #SchoolCounselorsSupport #StudentsFirst
