Elementary Math Tip: Why do we still use analog (round) clocks in school? It's a visual that not only teaches time, but other Math skills, too. It's easier to visualize "half past," "quarter after," and "quarter to" on a round clock. Teaching clockwise and counterclockwise is a much easier skill to grasp when taught on an analog clock. Elapsed time is easier to "see" and figure out as well as counting by 5's. The hands on an analog clock are a good visual for 90, 180, 270, and 360 degree angles. Everyone needs to know how to read analog clocks as well as digital ones.

Mr. Hellman’s math class has been learning about polygons. To have more fun with shapes the class went on a polygon search throughout the school today. Students found polygons, took pictures, and traced the sides. The dodecagon (12 sided shape) was the hardest to find!

What does the military and FFA have in common and how can they work together? In honor of Veteran’s Day students in the Ag 1 & Ag 4 classes learned how the FFA has worked with and is similar to our country’s military. The students found information about our involvement with each other in the past, what our similarities are today and how we can work together in the future. Check out what the students found outside of the Ag Classroom!

Students in Mrs. Stafslien’s reading class have been working on opinion writing projects. They tried to convince someone to buy their jack-o-lantern because it was the best in the patch! They typed it themselves and created their perfect jack-o-lantern art projects to match! 🎃

Mr. Cuypers’ STEM students connected an ultrasonic sensor to the front of the brain brick that measured distances. The students programmed the brick to stop immediately, go in reverse, and turn away when it encountered an obstacle.
