For Valentine's Day, Math 7 students built & decorated Valentine prisms (except a few who were determined to use cylinders & cones 😊). They created the corresponding net for the solid, sketched the solid & net, measured dimensions, and described & calculated total surface area & volume. ♥️

It's the final day of National FFA Week! Help us celebrate by wearing your blue and gold, check out how we are celebrating!

Students in Mrs. Stafslien’s Social Studies classes have been learning about Ellis Island and the immigrants who came to this country for a better opportunity many years ago! They wrote pretend postcards to family left behind, discussed items they would need to bring with them, packed suitcases with things essential for the trip, and researched the Statue of Liberty and her symbolism of freedom. 🗽🧳
The best reward as a teacher is when your students WANT to learn more! Axel recently contacted his great- grandmother from Sweden who came over to America on a ship. He recorded the phone conversation and shared it with the class. What an amazing story! The kids realized they are a part of living history!
So cool!💙

For the last several weeks Mr. Hellman’s Social Studies classes have been learning about the causes of the Civil War. After learning the causes, the class enlisted to fight for their respective sides. Now that they are finished with basic training they have started to experience military life in 1862. Today they got their first taste of military food called hardtack. This was a real food served to civil war soldiers and was described as “a cracker baked to the consistency and hardness of concrete.” Reviews were mixed: )
