☘️ STEM DAY! ☘️
Mrs. Stafslien’s class was challenged to make LEPRECHAUN TRAPS using the STEM methods. They had to design a plan, engineer their traps, and put them to the test!
They only had a few supplies to use and many improvements were made. They had so much fun and did such a great job!
I hope they can catch one! 🪤

Essler's 7th grade Life Science has been learning about the flow of energy in a system. We've explored the relationship between photosynthesis and cellular respiration, specifically. This week your scientists investigated how glucose affects the rate of cellular respiration. On Wednesday they made yeast beads, it was a pretty cool process! Then today we used the beads to put in respirometers that they assembled to measure the amount of CO2 (carbon dioxide) produced in our Control (just water + yeast beads) versus our Experiment (glucose + yeast beads). #esslerscience

Congratulations to Mr. Stafslien for receiving Region 8 Athletic Director of the Year!

Essler's Biology used spinach to measure the rate of photosynthesis! The biologists chose between sodium bicarbonate (source of carbon dioxide) or light intensity to manipulate the rate of photosynthesis! They first vacuumed the air out of the spinach cads, then as photosynthesis occurred and created oxygen they watched the spinach cads begin to float! #esslerscience
