Mr. Hellman’s Social Studies classes have been learning about colonial taxation and the causes of the Revolutionary War. On Friday the classes launched a “preemptive strike” against Queen Jasmynn and France. His Royal Majesty King Hellman III also raised taxes to hire more soldiers for protection. So far the colonists are okay with the taxes but there may be some protesting in our future.

This week is National Arts in Education week in North Dakota!
https://mailchi.mp/e4a18fdd3727/governor-burgum-proclaims-arts-in-education-week
"This came by way of an official proclamation from [Governor Burgum's] office, which recognized the “arts as an integral part of life in North Dakota and an integral part of a complete education that contributes to the vibrancy and vitality of communities and the nation.” Please reach out and let Governor Burgum know you appreciate his support of arts in education via Facebook, Twitter, or Email."
From Ms. Olson:
Arts education has been a large part of my life since I was a little girl. From the time I was able to pick up a crayon, I've been drawing, coloring, painting, and taking pictures. As I got older I discovered how much I love music and singing and how free and beautiful it makes me feel when I listen to and participate in choir and instrumental groups. In junior high school, I learned to play the guitar and, was active in high school talent shows, and LOVED to write my own lyrics. When I was in college, I discovered programs called "Finale" and "Noteflight." Those programs gave me new ways to put my emotions and feelings onto a page and be even more creative with how I write music. It's so important to have some kind of creative outlet especially for young kids - it was life changing for me to be able to have music and the visual arts as a safe place to go to and be myself. Those who know me best know that music was, and is, the one thing that can get me out of a bad mood, help lift my spirits, and keep me going even when I am having a hard time.
