Today Mr. Hellman’s fourth grade social studies classes continued learning about the September 11 attacks. Today’s lesson took the students on a virtual field trip of the twin towers before and after the attacks. Students continue to learn the importance of that day and honoring those who lost their lives. Tomorrow his classes will be participating in the September 12 project. They will be making cards to put a smile on someone’s face in honor of local resident Ann Nelson. If you know someone that could use a few cards from some talented fourth graders, please let Mr. Hellman know and he will get some to them.

Today Mr. Hellman’s fourth grade social studies classes learned about the September 11 attacks. Students were able to watch a very short video produced by Nickelodeon explaining the events of that day students then had a very candid discussion about what happened that day with a trusted adult, Mr. Hellman. He told his story of what he remembered from that day, about the local resident Ann Nelson who passed away in the attacks and answered any questions that the kids may have had. It is a difficult topic to discuss in school, but one that we need to have in order to ensure that we never forget the events of that day.
