The Stanley Girls' Basketball Team is sponsoring a diaper drive for Dakota Hope clinic. Diaper collection will take place at the Girls' Basketball Game vs. Watford City on Tuesday, December 19th. Diapers can be dropped off in advance at either school or Bravera Bank.
Mrs. Murphy's high school coffee class met with Mrs. Tronset' elementary coffee club today. The students went through 4 stations led by the high school baristas. They learned about customer service, and how to make, hot chocolate, espresso and lotus drinks. So much fun was had by all!
7-8th grade boys basketball meeting tomorrow Thursday at 6:00pm for anyone interested in playing. The meeting will be held in the high school cafeteria.
Stanley FFA members had a successful day at the District 1 Leadership Conference today. Members competed in 9 different contest and advanced to the State LDE Contest Day in Bismarck next week in 5 contests. Highlights are listed below:

Congrats to our award winners for Gratitude! Our November counseling lessons focused on gratitude and showing appreciation for the people and things in our lives. The Ag 4 class helped deliver the extra sprays from our annual fundraiser to the Mountrail County Food Pantry today. Thank you to everyone that supported our fundraiser, we do still have 25 & 15ft garland available please let a member or Miss Hawbaker know if you would like any.

Congratulations to the following band students for being selected to the 2024 UND Honor Band. They will participate and perform in the festival on January 19-21 at UND. Each student completed a live audition that consisted of scales, solos, and sight-reading.

The Winter Concert is one week away! Kindergarten will perform at 2:00pm and 3rd Grade will perform at 6:30pm. The concert is on Thursday, December 7th in the Elementary School Gym! We can't wait to see YOU at the concert!
The Stanley FBLA chapter celebrated American Enterprise Day last week on November 15. Members visited with the 6th grade students and helped walk them through the process of creating a business plan for a hot chocolate stand.

The band makes homemade 9 inch apple & pumpkin pie completely from scratch. The pumpkin pie comes fully baked and the apple pie comes as a take and bake or ready for the freezer. Each homemade pie is $20.

Bring a hose because the courtroom was on fire! No objections that mock trials turned up the heat. The 2023 senior forensics class conducted mock trials at the Mountrail County Courthouse on Wednesday, November 15th. The courtroom was buzzing with objections and expert testimony.
The first case on the docket was the State of North Dakota versus Ryder Bonham. Prosecution members included attorneys Jonathan Germundson and Audrey Dazell with their witnesses Jake Hernandez and Abigail Clark. The defense attorneys were Mattiea Stone and Emma Jastrebski with their witnesses Jacob Dick and Dakota Pittsley. After a 40-minute deliberation, the jury found the defendant not guilty on all counts of murder, endangering by fire or explosion, and child abuse.
The second case on the docket was the State of North Dakota versus Avery McQueen. Representing the prosecution were attorneys for the state, Norah Hermanson and Molly Lund, with their witnesses Lane Vachal and Jacob Anderson. Representing the defense of Avery McQueen were attorneys Corra Bell and Adrien Rossin with their witnesses Bethany Enander and Kylee Ragan. After an intense courtroom battle, the jury delivered guilty verdicts of criminal conspiracy, criminal facilitation, and theft of property sending the defendant to jail.
A special thanks to the staff of Clerk of District Court including Madison Rogers, Heather Lee, and Katie Jackson for accommodating the mock trials. Another shoutout goes to Wade Enget and Amber Fiesel for presiding as judges and hearing the cases. Their time offered valuable lessons and insights into the criminal justice system for the seniors. Lastly, a thanks to the jurors that served jury duty including Nancy Hermanson, David Enander, Breann Lund, Pam Germundson, Shi Stone, Stacey Goodall, and Tia VanBerkom. See you back in court 2024!
Mrs. Hoaby's 3rd grade Language Arts classes had the opportunity to write persuasive papers to help animals at Hairball Haven and For Belle's Sake. After they video called with Hairball Haven to meet some of the animals, they wrote in first person to try to convince people to adopt the animal they chose. The letters were then mailed to the two animal shelters. They really enjoyed this project and hope all their animals get adopted faster with their help!

Stanley Elementary Brew Crew coffee club has been busy delivering coffee to teachers every Friday. The students are learning to take and deliver orders, make coffee and hot chocolate, and advertise their products.
