Blue Jay Families,
A recent topic trending among children/teens on TikTok is called "Devious Licks" where students steal objects and show off what they have taken on their social media posts. Unfortunately, this trend has made it into our school. We experienced incidents of stolen items and vandalism that mimics the popular TikTok trend.
The identified trend for October through the TikTok platform is "Smack a staff member on the backside". The act of physically striking a staff member with hands or any object will not be tolerated and will be dealt with severely. In addition to any school consequences, law enforcement will also be called.
We ask that our families speak to their children about social media, current trends taking place, and how these trends could impact their future. We want nothing more than our students and staff to take pride in our school and respect all members.
Please know that any actions against any member of our school will lead to consequences.
Thank you for your support in helping us teach our children the importance of doing what is right and not falling into irresponsible actions that can lead to harm.

Reminder that on October 6, 2021 we will have an early dismissal for teacher training. School will dismiss at 12:20 at the elementary school and 12:30 at the high school.

Reminder: 7th grade volleyball start at 3 pm tomorrow 9/30 at Ray High School, 8th grade follows at 4pm.

Communicable sicknesses continue to exist amongst students in our building. These illnesses include, but are not limited to: COVID-19, Influenza, Stomach Flu, Pink Eye, and Hand Foot and Mouth disease. Monitor your students for symptoms of sickness, especially fever of 100.3 or higher, and please keep them home if they are unwell. We will continue to sanitize and stress sound hygienic practices, but vigilance at home is also an essential part of keeping our students as safe and healthy as possible. Thank you

Check out the counseling newsletter for coping skills ideas and topics that we'll focus on in October!

Don't forget to stop in the library during Parent-Teacher Conferences to check out the book fairs going on now. Proceeds from the fairs are used to buy books for the libraries.

Thank you Gooseneck Implement for providing rolls for our staff this morning. It never hurts to start the day with a sweet surprise.

Mrs. Curren' Modern Lit class is at Notstock today, a fine arts festival at Minot State University. Students attended and participated in a workshop on Spoken Word Poetry with MSU alum Joe Davis. They also experienced screen printing, live music, and the creation of pottery.

Throughout the last few weeks Mr. Hellman’s social studies classes have been learning about the causes of the American Revolution. The evil King Hellman III has unjustly taxed the colonists for far too long. Today the colonists had enough. After yet another unfair raising of taxes without any representation they decided to show their disapproval with tax protest posters. The king was not happy.

Our high school building is struggling with a great deal of vandalism in our bathrooms due to the recent TikTok challenge. We've also experienced students throwing away our lunch trays. This is causing unnecessary expenses and added work for our staff. Please talk with your children about proper behavior and respect for school property.

🚨We will have early dismissals on October 6, January 27, and April 6 for teacher professional development. On these days the elementary school will dismiss at 12:20 PM and the high school will dismiss at 12:30 PM.
