PROM BANQUET SIGN UP
SHS Jr/Sr Banquet and Prom 2020 will be held on Friday, July 10, at the South Complex. We know that this is not ideal for all. but we are so happy that we will still be able to provide these two important events to our students. We don't know what this will look like yet, but we need to know who will attend. ALL JUNIORS AND SENIORS have received an email from Mrs. Curren with a link to a survey. This survey will give us an idea of how many people may be attending these events. Parents, please make sure that your child completes this survey, even if they are not planning to attend either event. We want to make sure that everyone has had the opportunity. Please watch this page for further updates and information!

Summer Reading Tips/Reading Rockets:
Write journal prompts & put in a jar. Ask your child to pull out one prompt each day & write it in his/her journal.

Blue Jay students: Happy last day of school! I’m so proud of all of you for your hard work this entire year. You’ve done your best on your schoolwork and have shown great character in how you choose to treat others. You’ve been missed for the past couple months, and we all can’t wait to see you again!
Sixth graders: Congratulations on graduating strong. I know you’ll take your empathy, leadership skills, and strong work ethic with you to seventh grade.
Parents: You did it!!! Your dedication to your children’s education didn’t go unnoticed. Thank you for your hard work in helping our students navigate their new way of learning. We know it was challenging and appreciate your help. Sending you all virtual high fives and pats on the back.
Teachers: There needs to be new words invented for the respect you all deserve. The dedication you’ve shown during our distance learning experience is admirable. You changed the face of public education overnight while homeschooling your own children and taking care of your families with grace. It’s been awesome to witness such incredible work ethic. Your students and parents are blessed to have teachers who care so much about each and every student.
Support staff: You’ve been the silent rock stars of Operation Distance Learning! You’ve come in to work even in the midst of virus uncertainty, all for the sake of helping your district. I have so much admiration and appreciation for your willingness to do whatever it takes, whenever is needed. You’re incredible role models to the students and community.
Everyone have a great summer and be safe!!
With love and gratitude,
Ms. Klabunde

Summer Reading Tips/Reading Rockets:
www.readingrockets.org
*Ask a relative to be a pen pal. Kids can write complete sentences/paragraphs for their message, create drawings or copy simple words to mail! And it's fun to get letters back!
* Hidden Treasure: Hide a special book for your child. Write out simple clues and have a scavenger hunt to find the book.
*Take turns reading. You go first, then have your child re-read. This helps build important fluency skills.
