One of Miss Zahn's language arts classes had fun studying for their test tomorrow with Quizlet Live! There was a little twist when it came down to the students not being able to talk for one round, then reflecting on how important communication is and how much a quiet work space leads to better focus! :) Yay for collaboration and group work!!

Today, in our Character Counts assembly, we focused on the pillar of RESPECT. Ms. Klabunde and I, tried to convey to the students that respect is more than treating others kind. We discussed self-respect, respect for our buildings, our possessions, our community, and so on. Teachers were given a "I showed respect form" that students are to take home and should be filled out when they are caught doing something respectful. They are not allowed to fill out the forms themselves and were told not to do something respectful just so they can tell a teacher or parent what they did. Their respectful acts are supposed to be recognized by anyone but themselves. This could be a teacher, janitor, cook, friend, or community members alike. Please, if you see any student being respectful inside or outside of school, take the time to fill the form attached by the link attached to the "news feed" portion of this website and send it back to the school. If a student brings a signed form to me they will get a special treat, and their form will be posted on the RESPECT Wall of Fame, near the lunch room. I will accept forms for the next month and look forward to be inundated with students showing me their acts of respect.

Grammar lessons are integrated in segments during writing. With their personal narrative, 9th graders in English review comma placement. You can do an escape room activity about commas? Yup! Today's code unlocked: "Life is a series of commas, not periods." -Matthew McConaughey

SSR Fridays is what's happening in English 10--students read a book of their choosing, and at the end of each 9-week session, they participate in book talks to report and recommend. When it's Friday, and it's a rainy day, sometimes you just curl up with a good book and READ!

Mrs. Stafslien’s class had “the plant lady” aka Lacey McDonald visit today to discuss seeds and plants. She showed them how to find the seeds in plants, preserve them, and grow new plants in the spring. Students got to open up pods and examine the seeds inside. Thank you Lacey for coming in!! 🌱🌱
