Great fun tonight! The seniors take the win in Powderpuff football, while the juniors came out on top in Powerpuff Volleyball. Huge thanks to everyone that made tonight a success- Mr P and Ms H for their commentary and score keeping, Max Murphy for setting up the field and making sure we had everything we need, Coach Anderson and Mr Pulver for reffing football, Mrs Evensvold for reffing volleyball, student council kids for setting it up and putting it together, and the junior girls for staying after to help me clean up. Here's to an awesome homecoming week!

Martens market invited foods classes for a garden tour and students got to hand pick veggies to use for upcoming labs! Students loved learning how local produce is planted and harvested all while munching on a few carrots! If anyone has extra produce they won't be able to use feel free to send it our way, we are excited to start cooking!

This week 5th graders experimented and found out that vinegar and salt can turn a dull penny shiny and new again! We spent this week investigating the "why" and "how" behind our experiment. This picture is from the very second these scientists took their penny out of the vinegar and salt solution to find that it worked!

STEM students have been on a mission to design a delayed-release pill! First, learning about the problem that certain medications need their active ingredient released at a controlled time...how do we do this?! Your engineers first went about testing the various plastic materials (polymers) that were given. Choosing what they thought was best, based on solubility tests, they began designing their prototype! I loved watching them work, fail, and keep trying to make their pill better! 💊 They had criteria: 3 colors all released at different times. Yellow at 30s, Red at 90s, and Blue at 240s. All color tablets in the same "pill package", and pill totally dissolved in less than 5 minutes. We held a competition between the groups on Thursday! STEM is all about the Engineering Design Process and your Blue Jays did awesome!
