Today Mr. Hellman’s 4th graders combined technology and vocabulary into a fun “hide and seek” game. Our vocabulary words were hidden in the hallway on a QR code. Students had to find and solve the problem to write down their correct word.

It’s not always fun and games in Mr. Hellman‘s class. Today the students took their STAR assessment. This test is given four times a year as a tool to help teachers see where their students may be needing the most help in math and reading. It is an important “puzzle piece” used with other assessments, observations and classwork to help grow our eager learners!

Mrs. Essler's Biology students have been on quite the journey so far. Following our "Africa Storyline" theme, we have explored how group behavior has advantages for lions. First, by looking at kilocalories and what is most cost-effective for a lion. Second, they just met Lulu, the heroine lioness, and how genetics might promote group behavior. Today, they just completed modeling karyotypes and starting to understand chromosomal inheritance. This whole storyline is based on real stories and real data collected from the field and in the lab. I'm having fun and I think they are too!
