Today in Mr. Hellman’s Social Studies class the students were given a mystery box. The box was put to together by the state historical society and contains real artifacts related to Native Americans. Students got hands on time to hold, feel, and even smell the objects. The class then took a guess at what each object was and what we will be learning about. There were some great guesses!

The Stanley FFA Members would like to thank everyone that supported them during our FFA Week. We would especially like to thank American Bank Center for grilling brats for teachers and members on Friday and also to Marilyn Gaebe for donating cupcakes to all of the members this week! We appreciate all of the community involvement and the students enjoyed their special week. If you want to support our chapter this week, on Wednesday, February 26th, we will have our annual Pie Social at the Mountrail County Ag Improvement Farm and Ranch Day. The FFA Officers will also be at Tractor Supply on Wednesday morning handing out treats, so come out to the store to donate to the Grants for Growing event by buying and FFA Emblem!

Miss Zahn’s class had quite the adventure today! We walked to the high school on such a beautiful day for a fun-filled afternoon with Miss Albertson’s FACS Class for Foodie Friday! The kiddos learned how to make a grilled cheese, then had a Grilled Cheese-Off. Winners were chosen for Best Teamwork, Best Use of Bacon, Most Golden Brown, Most Appealing, etc. We had so much fun! Thank you to Miss Albertsons & her class for having us! 💙

The 5th graders had their field trip today at the Minot State University Science Show. First, we attended a magic show where we saw a bunch of cool chemistry reactions and many more science experiments. After lunch, we broke off into small groups and got to go to different rooms with different experiments... Erosion, dissection, fluorescent DNA, rocket launching, & CD air hockey were just a few of the activities we could choose from! We had a blast! 💥 A huge thank you to Sarah Brewer & Brence for driving the buses! And another thank you to our chaperones, Holly Gustafson, Barb Roise, and Stacey Mortensen, for joining us today! We couldn’t have done it without you all! 😊

Elementary Math Tip: Math requires active learning. This means in order to learn math, students must complete assignments and homework. Math is not a subject where students can simply listen in class and expect to become proficient. It is a subject that builds on what is previously learned - like building blocks. Missing school and not completing work can affect a student's understanding and progress. All the "building blocks" must be in place for the continuance of successful learning.
