The Ag 4 students spent their Friday networking with Agricultural Businesses at the Ag Expo in Minot.

Elementary Math Tip: Knowing the basic facts of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division enables your child to compute faster and more easily "see" the relationships in more complex math problems. Knowing the basic facts is a confidence booster for all children. Math facts can be easily practiced using flashcards, math apps, or verbally with a family member/friend.
One way to switch up practicing multiplication facts is change how you're asking the questions. Most of the time we ask for the product, for example, "8 times 5 equals what?" Instead, change the question and ask, "8 times what equals 40?" This requires a deeper knowledge of the multiplication fact and prepares your child for division.

Happy 100th Day of School!

Today Mr. Hellman‘s social studies classes continued their simulation Civil War game. They have been training hard in a mock basic training and improving their skills. Today they had an opportunity to improve one of their simulation skills and to be promoted. They also took time to practice their writing by doing their first journal entry. They will keep writing about their experiences in these journals throughout the game. Most were happy but some were upset with the general for not promoting them.

Time to travel to America! 🗽
Mrs. Stafslien’s class has been learning all about Ellis Island, The Statue of Liberty, their ancestors, and more! They were given the task to take only “one suitcase” with them and needed to decide what they should bring along for the journey! 🧳

Today Mr. Hellman’s social studies classes continued learning about the Civil War. They have started a simulation game where they get to join one of the sides and fight in the war. Classes are currently in basic training where they are drilling hard and learning skills. They even got to taste hard tack (a very hard very dry Civil War type of cracker)!

Hello!
Miss Olson has a few former band uniforms tucked away in her closet that she would love to give away! They have not been used in the last few years, so she would like them to go to a home that WILL use them!
There are six white jackets (five with blue pants), 20 blue jackets, and hats!
If you'd like to have one...or all of them...please give Miss Olson a call at the school!

🎭Thank you to the Bowbells Community Theater for bringing “The Sensuous Senator” to Stanley🎭 !
We were able to raise $1200 for the playground.
If you weren’t there you missed a great show! Cheeks were hurting from laughter.
Make sure to come out next year!

Seventh grade students celebrate their reading goal accomplishments with a sledding party. Mountrail County deputies join in the fun!

What a fun day! Mrs. Stafslien’s reading class had a “Book Tasting!” 📚🌹
Students had appetizers (cornbread muffins, bananas, chocolate, & fortune cookies) that are all mentioned in the chapter books they were to “taste!” They rotated tables while reading the first few pages of each book, making predictions, and ranking which book they would like to read in small groups next week! 📚

Our first 5th/ 6th grade boys STEM club was a blast! Students learned what STEM stands for - science, technology, engineering and mathematics. They learned about the STEM process imagine, plan, create, improve, ask. Then they developed their own paper airplanes.
